B.A. in Biology at the University of Virginia Graduated with Echols Scholarship

Experience

Japanese: I studied Japanese at college, and immersed myself in Japanese language while living in Japan for 4 years. I have passed the Level 2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test. I underwent translation/interpretation training while in Japan and have experience with Japanese-English translation. During this time in Japan I taught English at an academic high school, an agricultural high school, a special needs school, and also tutored native Japanese speakers one-on-one. Chinese: I took Chinese language throughout college and studied abroad at Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan. Music: I've studied classical piano since age 7 and won a Virginia statewide competition at the age of 15. In college, I took private lessons from a Juilliard-trained instructor. I have a strong understanding of musical theory, and routinely compose and record classical compositions. I find it rewarding to work one-on-one with students and tackle questions that are difficult to address in larger classroom settings. SAT score : 1420 (out of 1600)
