EducationI graduated Salutatorian from my high school and I am recent graduate of U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. (honors) in Classics; this concentration consists of reading novels, plays and histories from the Greco-Roman time period and studying the languages of Latin and Ancient Greek. I currently am on medical leave from UCLA Law School and am available during most weekdays.
ExperienceI love teaching others in subjects I love and helping them succeed in their academic endeavors! I derive great satisfaction from seeing the success of my teaching pay off, and this feeling is what motivates me to always give 100% effort when I'm working with tutees.
I have had over 6 years of experience tutoring in the humanities and also doing SAT prep work. I was a U.C. Berkeley endorsed tutor for 3 semesters, and I have been teaching fellow students in writing and study strategies at my university for the past 2 years. I have also led writing workshops in classroom settings.
I also have extensive experience with the SAT. When I took the test in high school I scored in the 90th percentile. Sophomore year at Berkeley, I taught the SAT Verbal section to a classroom of 20 high school Juniors every Saturday through the People's Test Preparation Service. I currently work as an SAT/ACT instructor with Prepnow Tutoring.
I am an accomplished Varsity athlete as well, and, having competed in sports year round in high school as well as concert/marching band, I know how difficult it can be to balance extracurricular activities with school. I would love to work with students facing this dilemma and help them learn to effectively manage their time and priorities, as well as give them some free basketball/track and field coaching every now and then if they so desired!
