California State University, Pomona, Masters in Education and a B.A. Learning Handicap Certificate Resource Specialist Certificate Thirty-five years experience teaching with Los Angeles Unified School District. I have experience running a gifted program for many years and have been the gifted coordinator, too. I have run Student Success Teams helping families and teachers come up with plans to help their students succeed in school. I have also tested student to find the academic strengths and weaknesses as well as discovering any weaknesses or strengths in learning styles.

Experience

I was a Resource Specialist Teacher for about 20 years teaching students with learning disabilities/challenges. I worked for LAUSD for about 9 of those years as a teacher in private schools teaching reading and math in the Title I, Private Schools Program. I have also been and continue to be a private tutor for the last 25 years. I love teaching and helping students learn how to "learn". I enjoy the excitement they experience when they "get it"! Hobbies

I love to read and and am eager to pass on that love of reading to the students I work with. There are great books out there for everyone. It is a matter of finding the right book for the right reader. I also love to swim and work in my garden. I spend a lot of my time playing with my 2 dogs. I enjoy being playful and love to be challenged. I can spend hours thinking of ways to help a student learn a concept that has been challenging to them.
