Experience
I graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science. While I was there, I became heavily involved in the Big Brother program, and that experience showed me that my future was in teaching. After completing my bachelor's degree, I received a standard elementary teaching credential from San Jose State University.I have since worked at various places where I have been able to utilize my skills in tutoring and teaching. I believe that to show students the relevance of a topic, I need to tie those topics to situations that are a part of everyday life. I have worked with students of a wide variety of subjects, including history, geography, spelling, math, reading, and comprehension. Out of all of the topics I have taught, I most enjoy teaching reading. I have worked with students who came from living situations where English is not often spoken. I am also qualified to teach students in American history, study skills and organization, social studies, and can teach students how to study in an organized fashion. When I'm not tutoring or teaching, I enjoy gardening, reading, traveling, and hiking.
