Private tutor in San Jose, CA
Duke University - BA, Sociology, Theater Studies
My passion for storytelling drives my strength as a tutor, and I give my students the tools they need to weave their own stories of success. I learned the power of tapping into stories as a Sociology/Theater Studies double major at Duke University. I've enjoyed igniting that passion in a wide range of students from middle schoolers to college students. My experience as a tutor has been primarily in literature, French, writing, and editing, as well as standardized test preparation, such as both lower-level preparation and verbal skills for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or verbal, writing, and critical reading skills for the SAT. One of my favorite tutoring memories is when I taught Literature classes to eighth graders at the renowned Breakthrough Collaborative Program in NYC. In my time as a tutor, I've discovered that the best tools for learning and retaining new information include preparation, determination, and a good attitude. Each time I meet a new student, I still feel that familiar excitement for the learning and storytelling journey ahead of us. While I hail from Gainesville, FL, I'm thrilled to live in California now and love reading, singing, baking, playing the piano, and listening to music in my free time.
